The Suffolk Chamber Supply Chain Engagement team is proud to announce that our recent Charity Golf Day has raised a staggering £19,057.45 in support of St Elizabeth Hospice.
We had the honour of presenting the cheque to the team at the hospice’s Ipswich facility. During our visit, we gained a deeper appreciation for the exceptional range of services they provide, and the extraordinary commitment of their staff in supporting both patients and their families.
From physiotherapy and mobility recovery to tranquil reflection rooms and peaceful outdoor gardens, St Elizabeth Hospice creates a warm and homely environment for all who enter. Their compassionate care extends far beyond the physical, offering emotional and psychological support in a space that truly feels like a home away from home.
Operating 24/7, the hospice provides round-the-clock assistance through their OneCall helpline, ensuring that expert advice and guidance are always just a phone call away—day or night.
Recognising that every patient’s journey is unique, St Elizabeth Hospice also offers specialist at-home care. This service supports individuals 
with complex symptoms or at the end of life through a dedicated team comprising doctors, clinical nurse specialists, therapists, registered nurses, and community healthcare assistants.
Importantly, the hospice also supports people of all ages. Since 2015, they have developed Zest, a pioneering initiative created in collaboration with East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices and other local services. Zest ensures a seamless transition for young adults (aged 14 and upwards) with progressive and incurable conditions into adult care. It offers tailored treatment and personalised support, helping them live life to the fullest.
Operating such a vital service comes at a significant cost—approximately £12 million each year. Remarkably, 70% of this funding comes from charitable donations and community support, including fundraising events and revenue from retail shops.
