Supply Chain statement: Todays announcement, confirming the governments intention to invest in the Sizewell C project

Todays announcement, confirming the governments intention to invest in the Sizewell C project, is one we are delighted to hear. Energy security, in particular low carbon Energy security, is critical for this country and Sizewell C is a massive step in the right direction

For many years, the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce has run the Sizewell C Supply Chain Engagement team, engaging with local and regional businesses from across the whole of east Anglia. Today’s direction from the government will give businesses the confidence to match their enthusiasm for this monumental infrastructure project

We now work with almost 2,300 businesses, who have signed up to our supply chain portal, all of whom are excited and ready for the wealth of opportunities that will come from Sizewell C. The clear message we get from local business is that they are ready, willing and able to support the building of the new nuclear plant on the Suffolk coast and are keen to grow and adapt to take advantage of the wealth of opportunities that will arrive in our region over the coming years.

We now look forward to working closely with Sizewell C over the coming months to help get local businesses ready for works to begin and to ensure that the commitments of over £4bn to the regional economy are met and where possible, exceeded. The Suffolk Chamber of Commerce also looks forward to further cementing our relationship with Sizewell C, supporting local and regional businesses throughout the construction of this project for many years to come.
