Collins Skip Hire Plays a Key Role in Sizewell C, Delivering a Major Boost for the Local Supply Chain

Collins Skip Hire, a Suffolk-based waste management specialist, is playing a key role in the delivery of Sizewell C.

Operating from Leiston and Ipswich, Collins Skip Hire is providing essential waste disposal services to construction contractors working on the Sizewell C project, helping to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient waste management. The company is operating as a Tier 2 supplier, supporting multiple contractors across the site.

With a workforce of 80 employees, Collins Skip Hire currently has a dedicated team of drivers and office management staff directly engaged on the project. As construction progresses, the company hopes its involvement will grow, with an anticipated increase in employment over the lifetime of the project.

Participation in Sizewell C is expected to deliver a positive commercial impact, contributing to sustained business growth and providing long-term income visibility. The project – due for completion by the mid to late 2030s – is enabling the business to plan with confidence and invest in future capability.

The company is making significant investments in recycling infrastructure and enhanced waste management practices, strengthening its environmental credentials and delivering lasting benefits for Suffolk and the wider region. These investments will extend beyond the Sizewell C project, creating a long-term legacy in sustainability, skills development, and higher-value specialist work.

Collins Skip Hire holds several recognised industry accreditations, including FORS, PAS 100, and Green Compass, reflecting its commitment to safety, quality, and environmentally responsible operations.

Suffolk Chamber Supply Chain Engagement team has been instrumental in helping the business navigate a project of this scale. The team has provided clarity and valuable insight into the wider programme, helping to connect customers and suppliers while supporting informed decision-making around investment, workforce planning, and operational delivery.

Marie Stannard, Collins Skip Hire, said:
“Sizewell C will be the making of many companies now and well into the future. It’s already had a positive benefit on our business and we’re looking forward to continuing to grow as the project develops.”

By playing a key role in one of the UK’s most important clean energy projects, Collins Skip Hire is demonstrating the strength of the local supply chain, and the vital contribution regional businesses make to delivering national infrastructure while building a sustainable future for Suffolk and beyond.

Around 8,000 people will on site during peak construction, with a third of those coming from East Anglia. A recent Oxford Economics report found that the project could reduce local unemployment in Suffolk by up to 2,200 people, cutting the county’s jobless rate from 2.7 per cent to as low as 1.7 per cent.
